Taxonomy
Neochonetes (Sommeriella) hockingi was named by Archbold (1991). Its type specimen is GSWA F11247, a valve (Cast of ventral valve exterior), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is GSWA 94217 Mt. Sandiman, Kennedy Range, Billidee Formation, Carnarvon Basin, which is in an Artinskian coastal sandstone in the Billidee Formation of Australia.
