Taxonomy
Ectenolites was named by Ulrich and Foerste (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-u O Trem-l Sepkoski's reference number: 297,524]. It is not extant. Its type is Ectenolites subgracilis.

It was assigned to Ellesmeroceratidae by Flower (1964), Crick (1981), Kröger and Landing (2007), Kröger and Landing (2008) and Kröger and Landing (2009).
