Taxonomy
Costatumulus tazawai was named by Shen et al. (2000). Its type specimen is NMV P148917, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Selong Xishan, Bed 5b, which is in a Wuchiapingian shallow subtidal shale in China.
