Taxonomy
Huaiheceras was named by Zou and Chen (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-l Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 297]. Its type is Huaiheceras hanjiaense. It is the type genus of Huaiheceratidae.
It was assigned to Huaihecaratidae by Chen et al. (1979) and Crick (1981); to Huaiheceratidae by Teichert (1988); and to Ellesmerocerida by Sepkoski (2002).
