Taxonomy
Acanthocrania conferta was named by Cooper and Grant (1974). Its type specimen is USNM 151430b, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM732, Guadalupe Pass, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Roadian slope limestone in the Cherry Canyon Formation of Texas.
