Taxonomy
Bothrostegium derbyoideum was named by Cooper and Grant (1974). Its type specimen is USNM 152596a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM710u, Road Canyon Formation, Sullivan Ranch, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Bothrostegium.
