Taxonomy
Collemataria irregularis was named by Cooper and Grant (1974). Its type specimen is USNM 153635a, a valve, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM703b, Old Word Ranch, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Cathedral Mountain Formation of Texas.
