Taxonomy
Robsonoceras was named by Ulrich and Foerste (1933) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-u O Aren Sepkoski's reference number: 298,524]. Its type is Ellesmeroceras robsonensis.

It was assigned to Robsonoceratidae by Ulrich and Foerste (1933); to Ellesmeroceratidae by Flower (1964) and Crick (1981); and to Ellesmerocerida by Sepkoski (2002).
