Taxonomy
Rudolfoceras was named by Ulrich et al. (1944) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. It is the type genus of Rudolfoceratidae.

It was assigned to Protocycloceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964), Hook and Flower (1977) and Crick (1981); and to Rudolfoceratidae by Ulrich et al. (1944) and Kröger and Landing (2009).
