Taxonomy
Stereochia irianensis was named by Archbold (1981). Its type specimen is IMC 9, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Aifat River 79CP219, which is in a Kungurian marine shale in the Aifat Formation of Indonesia.
