Taxonomy
Scacchinella americana was named by Stehli (1954) [Lectotype selected from Stehli's four syntypes by Cooper & Grant (1975, p. 920)]. Its type specimen is AMNH 27311/1:3, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is not a trace fossil.
