Taxonomy
Transennatia waterhousei was named by He and Shi (2008). Its type specimen is GZ-20f-25 (China University of Geosciences, Wuhan) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Garizaren GZ20, Upper Suojia Formation, which is in a Capitanian open shallow subtidal wackestone in the Suojia Formation of China.
