Taxonomy
Neochonetes (Sommeria) robustus was named by Archbold (1981). Its type specimen is CPC 19886M, a shell (Internal mould of conjoined shell), and it is a mold. Its type locality is BMR WB182, Monument Bore, which is in a Sakmarian coastal siliciclastic in the Callytharra Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Neochonetes (Sommeriella) robustus by Archbold (1982).
