Taxonomy
Neocycloceras was named by Flower and Caster (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. Its type is Neocycloceras obliquum.

It was assigned to Pseudorthoceratinae by Teichert et al. (1964); and to Pseudorthoceratidae by Kröger (2008).
