Taxonomy
Spinarella costellata was named by Cooper and Grant (1975). Its type specimen is USNM 148842a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM703d, Road Canyon Formation, Old Word Ranch, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian slope limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas.
