Taxonomy
Grandaurispina elongata was named by Cooper and Grant (1975). Its type specimen is USNM 150005a, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM706e, Hess Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian marine limestone in the Word Formation of Texas.
