Taxonomy
Quadrochonetes girtyi was named by Stehli (1954) [Lectotype selected from syntype series by Cooper and Grant (1975)]. Its type specimen is AMNH 27298/1:1, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Quadrochonetes.
