Taxonomy
Chonetinella gerontica was named by Cooper and Grant (1975) [Plate 154 is in Volume II (Cooper and Grant, 1974) of the series]. Its type specimen is USNM 153753a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil.
