Taxonomy
Phrenophoria compressa was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 153489, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM706f, Road Canyon Formation, lower Hess Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian slope limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas.
