Taxonomy
Pecten limaeformis was named by Morris (1845). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Eastern Marshes, Van Diemen's Land (Strzelecki coll), which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in Australia.
It was recombined as Aviculopecten limaeformis by Hudleston (1883); it was recombined as Deltopecten limaeformis by Muromtseva (1981), Waterhouse (1982), Muromtseva and Guskov (1984), Waterhouse (1987).
