Taxonomy
Nucula poposiensis was named by Branson (1930). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Big Popo Agie Canyon, Lander, Fremont County, which is in a Lopingian marine shale in the Phosphoria Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Nuculopsis poposiensis by Ciriacks (1963).
