Strophalosia multispinifera was named by Prendergast (1943). Its type specimen is UWA 20456, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Wyndhamia multispinifera by Archbold (1987); it was recombined as Arcticalosia multispinifera by Briggs (1998).
