Taxonomy
Euphemites imperator was named by Yochelson (1960). Its type specimen is USNM 119929 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM703, Old Word Ranch, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas.
