Intejoceras was named by Balashov (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 298,524].

It was assigned to Intejoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964) and Crick (1981); and to Intejocerida by Sepkoski (2002).
