Taxonomy
Triproetus altasulcus was named by Brezinski (1992). Its type specimen is USNM 447537, a pygidium, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM712p, Hill 5021, Sullivan Peak, Glass Mountains, which is in an Artinskian slope limestone in the Skinner Ranch Formation of Texas.
