Taxonomy
Cassinoceras was named by Ulrich and Foerste (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. Its type is Cassinoceras arkansasense.

It was assigned to Endocerida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Piloceratidae by Ulrich et al. (1943), Teichert et al. (1964), Crick (1981), Kröger and Landing (2009) and Evans (2011).
