Taxonomy
Babylonites turritus was named by Yochelson (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 119137 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM702, Split Tank, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Cathedral Mountain Formation of Texas.
