Taxonomy
Dichostasia simplex was named by Yochelson (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 119186 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM702d, Hill 5725, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Hess Formation of Texas.
