Taxonomy
Ambocoelia guadalupensis was named by Girty (1908). Its type specimen is USNM 118598a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Crurithyris guadalupensis by Coogan (1960) and Cooper and Grant (1976); it was recombined as Orbicoelia guadalupensis by Chen and Shi (2006).
