Taxonomy
Composita hapsida was named by Stehli and Grant (1970). Its type specimen is USNM 163582, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM9257, Cerro el Volcancillo (FS-67-G-1), which is in a Kungurian marine limestone in the Chochal Formation of Guatemala.
