Schizophoria hueconiana was named by Girty (1929). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Marble Canyon, Diablo Plateau, which is in an Artinskian carbonate limestone in the Hueco Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Orthotichia hueconiana by Stehli (1954).
