Taxonomy
Rhynchopora tenera was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 154415b, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM706d, Hess Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Word Formation of Texas.
