Sarganostega pyramidalis
Taxonomy
Spiriferina pyramidalis was named by Girty (1908). Its type specimen is USNM 118604a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 2926 green, Capitan Peak, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Capitanian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Capitan Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Sarganostega pyramidalis by Cooper and Grant (1976); it was recombined as Punctospirifer pyramidalis by Lee and Gu (1980).
