Archelon ischyros
Taxonomy
Archelon ischyros was named by Wieland (1896). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is south fork, Cheyenne River, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Pierre Shale Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Archelon.
