Taxonomy
Texasia oblongata was named by Cooper and Grant (1969). Its type specimen is USNM 153415, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Texarina, Texasia.

It was recombined as Texarina oblongata by Cooper and Grant (1970) and Cooper and Grant (1976).
