Taxonomy
Composita apsidata was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 153004d, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM702d, Hill 5725, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Hess Formation of Texas.
