Taxonomy
Neophricadothyris transversa was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 152513k, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM707m, Lenox Hills Formation, Lenox Hills, Glass Mountains, which is in a Sakmarian marine shale in the Lenox Hills Formation of Texas.
