Glyptodendron was named by Claypole (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov]. It is not extant. Its type is Glyptodendron eatonense.
It was assigned to Westonoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964); to Lycopodophyta by Andrews (1970); and to Discosorida by Sepkoski (2002).
