Taxonomy
Lowoceras was named by Foerste and Savage (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl Sepkoski's reference number: 298]. It is the type genus of Lowoceratidae.

It was assigned to Lowoceratidae by Teichert et al. (1964); and to Discosorida by Sepkoski (2002).
