Taxonomy
Maitaia bella was named by Biakov (1992) [Geological museum of the Northeast Producing Geologic Combine]. Its type specimen is SVPGO 30/1062, a valve (Left valve), and it is a cast. Its type locality is Russkaya-Omolonskaya River, Cancrinelloides curvatus Zone, Omolon Massif, which is in a Capitanian marine siliciclastic in the Gizhiga Formation of the Russian Federation.
