Ascosymplegma oussifensis was named by Termier and Termier (1977) [Collection H & G Termier (Paris)]. Its type specimen is HGT 711 and is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Subascosymplegma oussifensis by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (1988).
