Taxonomy
Acanthophyllum confusum was named by Birenheide and Soto (1992). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Caldas de San Adrian, F-157, which is in a Givetian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Portilla Formation of Spain.
