Desmophyllites diphylloides

Taxonomy
Ammonites diphylloides was named by Forbes (1846) [DISTRIBUTION: Santonian-Campanian; cosmopolitan.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pondicherry, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone/claystone in the Valudavur Formation of India.

It was recombined as Desmophyllites diphylloides by Matsumoto (1959), Howarth (1965), Matsumoto (1984), Henderson and McNamara (1985), Klinger (1985), Kennedy and Henderson (1992), Kennedy et al. (1992), Kennedy (1995), Kennedy (1995), Arkadiev et al. (2000), Klinger et al. (2001), Kennedy and Klinger (2013), Ifrim et al. (2013), Shigeta (2016) and Shigeta and Izukura (2018).
