Ammonites marroti was named by Coquand (1859) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hoplitoplacenticeras marroti by Howarth (1965), Atabekyan and Khakimov (1976) and Kennedy (1986); it was recombined as Hoplitoplacenticeras (Hoplitoplacenticeras) marroti by Kennedy et al. (1992).
