Taxonomy

Ammonites brottianus was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Neophlycticeras, Neophlycticeras (Neophlycticeras).

It was recombined as Neophlycticeras (Neophlycticeras) brottianum by Kennedy and Delamette (1994), Kennedy and Delamette (1994), Kennedy et al. (1998) and Bulot et al. (2005).

Neophlycticeras (Eotropitoides) destombesi was named by Amedro (1976). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North of Wissant, level P5, which is in an Albian/Albian marine claystone in the Gault Formation of France.

It was synonymized subjectively with Neophlycticeras brottianum by Kennedy and Delamette (1994).
Neophlycticeras jayeti was named by Breistroffer (1936).
