Taxonomy
Menabites menabensis was named by Collignon (1948). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Menabites, Menabites (Menabites).

It was recombined as Menabites (Menabites) menabensis by Kennedy and Cobban (1993) and Kennedy et al. (1997).
