Taxonomy
Ammonites pleurisepta was named by Conrad (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Sphenodiscus pleurisepta by Hyatt (1903), Böse (1928), Reyment (1955), Kennedy et al. (1996), Kennedy et al. (1997) and Landman and Cobban (2003).
