Ammonites nebrascensis was named by Owen (1852) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Discoscaphites nebrascensis by Cobban and Reeside (1952); it was recombined as Scaphites (Discoscaphites) nebrascensis by Jeletzky (1960); it was recombined as Jeletzkytes nebrascensis by Landman and Waage (1993) and Kennedy et al. (1997).
