Taxonomy
Deltopecten sexradiata was named by Branson (1930). It is the type species of Procostatoria.

It was recombined as Costatoria sexradiata by Ciriacks (1963); it was recombined as Procostatoria sexradiata by Newell and Boyd (1975).
