Taxonomy
Ammonites margae was named by Schlüter (1867) [DISTRIBUTION: Coniacian; Cosmopolitan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Gauthiericeras margae by Lombard (1930), Kennedy (1984), Klinger and Kennedy (1984) and Kennedy (1995).
